A dispute (also known as a chargeback) occurs when a cardholder questions your payment with their card issuer. The issuer creates a formal dispute which immediately reverses the payment. The payment amount, along with a separate $17.50 (€15.00) fee, is then deducted from your account balance.
If the customer’s bank resolves the dispute in your favor, the fee is fully refunded.
For all industries, some of the quickest, easiest actions you can take are to proactively communicate with your customers and issue refunds where appropriate, especially when requested.
